Step 1: Verify insurance coverage and schedule initial client screening. After verifying insurance coverage, complete our New Client Form or give us a call in order to start the process of becoming a new patient with A.C.T.! This will allow us to schedule a time for an initial over-the-phone screening to ensure that Alaska Children's Therapy is the right fit as a provider. After your screening, you will be instructed to request a copy of records and prescriptions from your primary medical provider. Request Records & Prescriptions: Ask your child's pediatrician to fax a prescription for "Outpatient occupational therapy evaluation and treatment as indicated from [first appointment date] through [same date next year]" to me at 907-206-7043; please ask them to include relevant diagnoses, medical history, and any precautions/contraindications Verify Coverage: Prior to initial appointment, all prospective clients should contact their insurer to confirm coverage. Note that this may take up to to 2 hours to confirm with some providers, so please plan accordingly. Please ask the following: - Whether outpatient occupational therapy services are a covered benefit. - Whether a referral or Prior Authorization is required. - Whether there is any deductible remaining, how much, and whether OT applies to it.- What your copayment or coinsurance will be.- Whether there is a max allowed visit, and if OT visit allowance is bundled with any other therapies.
Step 2: Fill-out new client intake paperwork and submit using our secure client portal Once you have set up an appointment for an initial evaluation, you'll receive an email with an invitation to ACT's secure "Client Portal". Once you're signed up, you can use this paperwork to securely submit your intake paperwork, along with sharing any other additional sensitive information. In addition, we encourage all clients to review our Good Faith Estimate policy, as everyone has a right to know what to expect to pay when receiving care.
Step 3: Schedule your first treatment plan! During your first visit, we'll complete an in-depth developmental history and evaluation with you and your child and discuss the findings with you while addressing all of your questions and concerns. With your permission, we will also share evaluation findings and recommendations to your child’s physician. If occupational therapy services are needed, we’ll work together to create a schedule for regular sessions!
